After a close nail biting contest, the winner is finally here. Australia has won the game by 3 wickets. South Africa despite scoring 212 in the first innings, took the game till 49th over by their excellent bowling display. When two big teams like South Africa and Australia face each other, it’s pretty sure it won’t be a one sided game. Today we saw another example of it.
This game showcased everything which made every cricket fan hold their seats till the end.
First Innings:
From watching South Africa crumble for 4 wickets within 12 over till going down for an excellent century by David Miller under pressure. Not to forget some handy runs and a great partnership made by Henrich Klassen.
Second Innings:
Australia openers fired up and showed the real intent of winning the game but as we know, the match gets more exciting after the powerplay. Aiden Markram took the initial wicket and then wickets started coming quickly. It was a great knock by Travis Head which also made him the player of the match eventually. With great patience, the partnership between Inglis and Steve Smith took Australia ahead and anchored the innings. Finally after a game of approx 98 overs, Australia won it by 3 wickets.
Fact:
- Australia reached the finals of the ODI World Cup for the 8th time.
- South Africa has not been part of the ODI World Cup final
- This was possibly the last ODI match for Quinton De kock as he had mentioned earlier before WC to retire.
So finally it was a cracker of a game. Things to go noticed were:
