Warner had been contemplating retiring since before the 2023 World Cup, where he was the side’s leading run-scorer. He expressed his availability for the 2025 Champions Trophy, but said that it was the right moment to call an amazing World Cup win. Warner played his final ODI for Australia on November 19, 2023, against India, the ODI World Cup final that the Aussies won by six wickets to clinch their sixth world title.
